Joan Godsall Interview PDF Print E-mail

Joan Godsall – World Masters Swimming Champion 90-94 years

Joan is an example for us all. Recently she competed in the World Masters Swimming Meet at Perth where Joan won three gold and two silver medals.

My connection with the Joan goes back to the late 1950's early 1960’s. Joan and her late husband owned the National Hotel in Toowoomba. My parents had the lease of the new Milne Bay Memorial swimming pool at the time and Joan’s daughter Pamela and I used to train and swim together.

In 2000 Pamela and her husband Kerrigan opened the Shapland Swim School at Sinnamon Park. I remember walking down Queens Street with Pamela en route to a meeting with some town planners when she remarked to me “Who would have though that after all these years we would be planning to open a Shapland Swim School!”

After Joan came back from the World titles I had the opportunity to interview her on camera. Joan is such a vibrant and healthy woman I felt it would be great to share what she had to say about swimming and the influence it has had on her life and health.

There are a series of interviews so visit the web page from time to time to listen to what this vibrant woman has to say.
