Welcome to the Shapland Swim School Clontarf web page. We are the original Shapland Swim School which was establised by "Bernie and "Tuppy" Shapland in 1973 and has operated continually on this site since then. We supply semi private swimming lessons with only threee students per class and one class in the pool at any one time ensuring your child will receive more individual attention in a calm and friendly environment. The pool is heated to 32 degrees Celsius.
The swim school is owned and operated by Karen Fowks and Karen Johnston, who also own and operate the Shapland Swim School at Taigum franchise. Karen Fowke has taught swimming from over 12 years and has had 10 years experience with the Redcliffe Surf Lifesaving Club. Karen Johnston has also been a volunteer Surf Lifesaver at Redcliffe and has taught swimming for over 2 years.
All of our staff are either AUSTSWIM of Swim Austraila qualified, hold a current blue card and First Aid Certificate. Karen and I as well as all of our staff find great enjoyment in providing your child with the best possible Personal Aquatic Survival Skill tuition.

Cost and Enrolment Details
We only teach three students at a time witho only one class in the pool at any one time. All monthly fees are calculated on the number of lesson days per calendar month
$13.00 per lesson payable monthly in advance
There is a $52.00 deposit per family. This deposit is non refundable and can be use as payment against you last month fees when you decide to cancel our of the program.
A discount for families with three or more children apply. Please phone the swim school for details.
Self payment system
- At the end of each month, pick up your invoice from the viewing lounge.
- Process you own payment (cheque, EFTPOS, credit card, internet transfer or cash)
- Place your invoice and payment slip or cash/cheque in the payment box.
- A simple convieniet self-payment system enables us to give your child a teacher whose focus is on what is happening in the pool and not in the office.
Free make up system
If you are unable to attend your regular time slot, as long as you cancel you lesson before 8 am on the morning of your lesson, you are entitled to a free make up lesson. Make up lessons cannot be used as a credit for next months fees and must be used within 4 weeks of the missed lesson.
To make up a lesson you have missed, please give us a call before 8 am n the moring you wish to come. We will endeavour to meey your request, depending on the availablility of swim classes on that day.
The booking enquiry link allows you to send relevant information to the swim school. Once the swim school has this information they will contact you to organize a suitable time for your child to commence their learn to swim experience. Remember being able to swim is a life long life saving skill.
Servicing the Following Areas
We supply swimming lessons in semi private learn to swim classes of three pupils per class to the following suburbs.
Clontarf, Redcliffe, Margate, Scarborough, Rothwell, Mango Hill, Brighton, Sandgate, Deception Bay.
